- The School Years
- Middle School: I would've started music in elementary school but we were only allowed to play small stringed instruments, so I waited until 7th grade middle school and learned the saxophone. While in middle school I was mentored by the music Mr. Alan Niccola. He saw I had a natural gift and nurtured it by introducing me to the tuba and the upright bass, both instruments were needed to fill in the gaps in various ensembles.. With these three instruments, I was able to participate in all the school musical groups; jazz band (saxophone), wind ensemble and honor orchestra (tuba) and orchestra (upright bass). I was the only student selected from the lower brass section Honor Orchestra to perform alongside the tuba player of the Pacific Symphony Orchestra at a public performance of theirs at the Marriott in Dana Point, CA. I continued to play the saxophone for a total of 7 years and the tuba for 5 leaving the bass behind.
